Fair Trade

With hard labour they toil the lands,
For brown cocoa; brown like the sands.
Others sweat looking for gold,
Irrespective of their age - young and old.

The payment of their day-long suffering
Barely enough for their family's catering.
They accept it without much of a care;
But they know, as much as we do, that it's not fair.

So that's why we came along-
To show the people that this is wrong.
We have put their pay to a higher grade.
We are, Fair Trade.

Chapter one Kingswood Activity

It was a cold, wet morning. The windows all steamed up; it had rained all night. Jack though, didn’t have the time to notice that as he had rushed out of bed. He was always late to school.

“Hurry on down!” his mother had yelled from below the stairs. “You don’t want to be late for your trip.”

The trip to the Kingswood activity centre! He had been looking forward to it but somehow, during the night the thought had drifted from his brain.

As he had lain in bed the previous night, thinking about it, he had begun to fall asleep. This was where it had all started. He had dreamt of the place because he had thought of it so much. He had dreamt of having breakfast in the diner and the activities he would like. The high lines on which he would walk on, the fun team games he would play, him getting all muddy. You could have called it a good dream until the worst of things began to happen.

He had remembered that strange things happened but he hadn’t remembered what they were. He had been thinking about it for a while and concluded it didn’t mean anything. By this time, with enough persuasion from his mum, he was ready to go. Him and his mum had decided to go together to school that day since they wouldn’t see each other for another week. When his bags had been safely loaded onto the bus they said their goodbyes and that was it, he was off. He was off to the Isle of Wight.
